1. General Terms

1.1 About New Neighbourhood

New Neighbourhood is an online directory platform that connects house hunters with house agents, caretakers, and landlords in Nigeria. The platform allows these professionals to list themselves by location and service area, and allows house hunters to search for and contact them directly.

1.2 Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the New Neighbourhood platform ("Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and New Neighbourhood.

1.3 Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into binding contracts to use the Platform. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

1.4 Platform Role

New Neighbourhood is a directory and discovery service only. We do not act as a real estate agent, broker, landlord, or property manager. We do not participate in, mediate, or guarantee any transaction, agreement, or arrangement between agents and house hunters. Any dealings you have with an agent or house hunter are solely between you and the other party.

2. Terms for Agents

2.1 Account Creation

To list yourself on New Neighbourhood, you must sign in with a valid Google account. Upon sign-in, an agent profile is created. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.

2.2 Profile Completion

Your profile will not be visible in search results until you complete the required fields:

• Display name
• Profile photo (must be a real photo of yourself, not a logo or stock image)
• WhatsApp number (used for direct contact by house hunters)
• At least one service area (city/LGA where you operate)

2.3 Identity Verification

You may optionally verify your identity by submitting a valid Nigerian government-issued ID document (NIN slip, driver's license, voter's card, or international passport) through our third-party verification provider (Didit). Verified agents receive a verification badge and rank above unverified agents in search results.

By submitting your ID for verification, you consent to the processing of your identity document and biometric data by our verification provider. Verification data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

2.4 Accuracy of Information

You agree that all information you provide on your profile is accurate, current, and complete. You must not misrepresent your identity, qualifications, service areas, or service type (sales, rentals, or both). Inaccurate or misleading profiles may be removed without notice.

2.5 Listing Obligations

• You must be a legitimate house agent, caretaker, or landlord operating in Nigeria.
• You must respond to enquiries made through the platform in a timely and professional manner.
• You must not use the platform to solicit illegal activities, scams, or fraudulent listings.
• New Neighbourhood reserves the right to remove any agent profile at its sole discretion.

2.6 Service Fees

Listing on New Neighbourhood is currently free. We reserve the right to introduce paid features or subscription plans in the future, with reasonable notice to existing users.

2.7 Profile Removal

You may request removal of your profile at any time by contacting us. Upon removal, your profile data, verification records, and associated contact event logs will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

3. Terms for House Hunters

3.1 Searching and Browsing

You may search for and browse agent profiles without creating an account. No personal data is collected during anonymous browsing beyond standard analytics and anonymized contact event tracking (see our Privacy Policy for details).

3.2 Contacting Agents

When you click the "Message on WhatsApp" button on an agent's profile, you will be redirected to WhatsApp to initiate a conversation with that agent. New Neighbourhood does not have access to or store the content of your WhatsApp conversations. A contact event is logged anonymously for platform analytics.

3.3 Account for Reviews

To leave a rating or review for an agent, you must sign in with a Google account. Your name (as provided by Google) will be displayed alongside your review. You may update your review at any time but may only leave one review per agent.

3.4 Review Guidelines

• Reviews must be honest, based on genuine interactions with the agent.
• Reviews must not contain hate speech, harassment, threats, or personal attacks.
• Reviews must not include spam, advertising, or promotional content.
• New Neighbourhood reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these guidelines.

3.5 Due Diligence

New Neighbourhood provides a directory service. While we offer identity verification to help establish trust, you are solely responsible for conducting your own due diligence before entering into any arrangement with an agent. We do not verify properties, rental terms, pricing, or the quality of an agent's services.

4. Prohibited Conduct

All users of the Platform agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
• Harass, abuse, or threaten other users of the Platform.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Platform, other user accounts, or our systems.
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to collect data from the Platform without written permission.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Platform's infrastructure or services.
• Use the Platform to facilitate advance-fee fraud, rental scams, or any deceptive practices.

5. Intellectual Property

The New Neighbourhood name, logo, and all associated branding, design, and software are the property of New Neighbourhood. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Platform without prior written consent.

Agents retain ownership of any content (photos, bio text) they submit to the Platform but grant New Neighbourhood a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display such content on the Platform for the purpose of operating the directory.

6. Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. New Neighbourhood does not guarantee:

• The accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any agent profile or listing.
• The quality, safety, or legality of any property or service offered by an agent.
• That the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Nigerian law, New Neighbourhood, its directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform, including but not limited to loss of money, property damage, or personal injury resulting from dealings with agents found through the Platform.

7. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and may notify registered users via email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
